Freshwater Turtles on Country: Weaving, Culture & Conservation is a single-day immersive workshop held on May 2, 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00 at Wellington Hall. Guided by Ngarrindjeri Elders Owen Love and Rosslyn Richards, along with Karen from Australian Native Foods, participants learn about local freshwater turtles, their ecological roles, conservation challenges, and traditional weaving techniques to craft a woven turtle. The day includes a Welcome to Country with yidaki, a native food lunch, and hands-on activities blending cultural knowledge with environmental stewardship. Organized by Second Nature Conservancy as an initiative of the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board, it offers sliding scale pricing from $10 to $50 for broader accessibility.
