Echoes of Exploration by Yankalilla Library

Echoes of Exploration is a single-day historical society talk showcasing discoveries and research on Colonel William Light's campsite rediscovered at Rapid Bay, named by the South Australia Colonial Surveyor General after his landing on 8 September 1836. The presentation covers how Rapid Bay served as a base camp for Light and his survey crew from November to January. Attendees will hear the research findings and view artifacts from the site. The event takes place on 16 May 2026, from 10:30 to 12:30 at Yankalilla Library & Cultural Centre. It is free, open to everyone without membership requirements, though online bookings are required.
