Bread and Butter Poetry Slam by Forró Sydney

The Bread & Butter Poetry Slam is a monthly open mic competition held every first Thursday, where poets perform original works judged by randomly selected audience members to crown a monthly champion. The next event takes place on May 7, 2026, at The Nest Creative Space in Alexandria, Sydney, with doors opening at 6:30 PM and the slam starting at 7:00 PM, running approximately until 10:00 PM. Participants can sign up on the night to perform, while spectators are welcome to enjoy the poems, emotions, and laughs in a safe, inclusive environment. The event acknowledges unceded Dharug and Gadigal country and enforces a strict no-racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, or transphobic behavior policy, fostering diversity and open expression.
