This single-day contemporary dance workshop, presented by Ausdance ACT in collaboration with Bangarra Dance Theatre, takes place on 22 May 2026 from 11:15 to 12:45 at D Block Studio in Gorman Arts Centre, Canberra. Inspired by Bangarra's 'Sheltering' program—featuring works like Keeping Grounded, Brown Boys, and Sheoak—the session explores cultural elements of dance in a contemporary context, drawing from First Nations perspectives on identity, resilience, and connection to Country. Facilitated by company members Kassidy Waters, Daniel Mateo, and Tamara Bouman, it targets dancers aged 14+ with intermediate to advanced training, including independent artists, teachers, and adult dancers. Bursary places are available, and a cultural content advisory notes references to a deceased artist. The workshop complements Bangarra's performances at Canberra Theatre from 23-27 May.
